📝 Summary:
- Hydromassage is a combination of water and air that has a relaxing and health-boosting effect. The water moves mechanically, drawing on the properties of water together with warm water and air, which delivers an effective massage and deep relaxation.
- Modern massage systems help combat pain, tension and stress.
- It's an excellent solution for common ailments – from back pain to insomnia.
- Discover Excellent's advanced hydromassage systems and their key advantages.
How does hydromassage work?
A bathtub hydromassage system is based on a set of water and air jets that direct a stream at the right angle onto specific parts of the body. The water massage works mechanically, combining air and water at the right pressure. High-pressure jets of water hit the body, creating a relaxing effect, loosening the muscles and supporting both physical and mental recovery.
Modern systems available from Excellent also offer:
-
water, air and water-air massage programmes;
-
underwater LED lighting known as chromotherapy;
-
ozone bath, disinfection, water heating and water-system drying functions after bathing;
-
quiet operation and convenient touch or remote-control operation.
It's worth noting that using air in the hydromassage system gives the massage additional therapeutic and relaxing properties, improving both the comfort and the effectiveness of the treatment. All this means that a hydromassage bathtub becomes your own private relaxation centre, available every day.

An excellent solution for common ailments
Tired, stressed, or worn out after an intense workout, you're looking for new ways to restore your balance. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have constant access to your own private relaxation centre? Hydromassage can bring relief from muscle pain, aches, back pain and muscle tension, helping the muscles relax and unwind.
Excellent's hydromassage systems include:
-
Shiatsu back-massage jets - positioned in pairs on the bath's backrest so that the massaging water jet is directed at tense neck and back muscles, helping to ease back pain, muscle tension and bring relief from aches.
-
Side-massage jets - arranged symmetrically along the sides of the bath, they massage tense muscles and speed up recovery, helping to loosen muscles and ease pain and tension.
-
Air-massage jets - located in the bottom of the bath, they use air bubbles to give the body a relaxing massage, helping to loosen muscles and reduce muscle pain.
-
Foot-massage jets - two water-massage jets positioned to allow a very pleasant, regenerating water massage of the feet, bringing relief to tired muscles.
Fun fact:
Shiatsu massage originates from Japan, and its name means "finger pressure". Like acupuncture, it is based on traditional Chinese medicine, which held that all illnesses originate from an imbalance in the body's natural flow of energy. To improve this flow, therapists press with their fingers and palms on energy pathways known as meridians. Shiatsu massage improves circulation, loosens tense muscles, reduces stress, and calms an overactive sympathetic nervous system.
What does the Inspire system consist of?
- Air-massage jets x 8-13 - small (18 mm diameter) jets located in the bottom of the bath that pump heated air. Using air creates a gentle massage effect that is relaxing and improves bathing comfort. Air escapes from the jets through a central channel (2.5 mm diameter) and around the entire rim of the jet.
- Water-massage jets: feet x 2, side x 4 - flat jets with an outer diameter of 45 mm that allow water mixed with air (using the Venturi effect) to flow out through a centrally located 12 mm opening.
- Shiatsu jets x 4 - four single-point jets located at the backrest, smaller than the water jets (28 mm outer diameter), allowing a stronger water impact than the side jets (water mixed with air flowing from an 8 mm opening). Their action is comparable to acupressure massage.
- Control panel - flat, illuminated, based on capacitive technology. Light signals show the system's operation and active programmes, e.g. the button responsible for chromotherapy lights up in the same colour as the bath's lighting. It does not react to water splashes.
- Suction basket - used to draw water from the bath into the entire water system that feeds the water jets. The suction basket is fitted with a 52 mm strainer with mesh openings of around 2 mm.
- Chromotherapy - underwater lighting is one of the elements that add to the pleasure of bathing. It is based on proprietary technology using modern, long-life RGB Power LED diodes integrated into the surface of the bath.
In summary, the effectiveness and comfort of hydromassage depend not only on the system's advanced technology, but also on the properties of the water itself, such as temperature, pressure and composition, which are key to the therapeutic and relaxing effect of the bath.
Types of massage with the Inspire system
Water massage
Also known as hydrotherapy, it involves massaging the body with a stream of water directed by jets at key areas (feet, back and the sides of the body). High-pressure water hits the body, making water massage an effective therapeutic water treatment – it relaxes tired muscles, improves blood circulation and supports rehabilitation. The Shiatsu jets in the backrest are positioned so as not to direct the stream directly onto the spine. The Inspire system has 3 levels of water massage, adjustable with a single button. We especially recommend it for people with muscle tension caused by overtraining or staying in the same position for too long. Combining warm water with massage further improves mood and boosts the release of endorphins.
Air massage
Also known as a bubble bath, this is bathing in air bubbles rising from jets in the bottom of the bath. They massage the body, regenerating it and offering the blissful sensation of a thousand tiny air bubbles against the skin. Through massage they ease muscle pain, giving beneficial therapeutic effects for cramps and bruises. It's a massage that allows for quick relaxation. The Inspire system has 3 levels of air massage. We especially recommend it for stressed people looking for some calm.
Chromotherapy
This is the gentlest form of therapy, based on the use of colours and their effect on our psyche. Warm, energising colours (red, orange, yellow, pink) stimulate, a cool palette (green, turquoise, blue, purple) relaxes, and a programme using the full range of colours helps achieve balance. The therapeutic method known as chromotherapy or colour therapy was pioneered by the ancient Egyptians and Chinese, who believed in the healing power of colours. Today, chromotherapy has become a popular tool used in hydromassage systems. The Inspire system has 3 built-in chromotherapy programmes (Active, Relax and Complex). Using it can have a positive effect on our wellbeing.

Advantages of Excellent hydromassage systems
Unique innovations
- ozone bath system - activated with an independent switch, it works thanks to an ozone generator working together with an air blower. Its operation is signalled by the button lighting up. Ozone is a triatomic form of oxygen with a characteristic smell and blue colour. It has healing properties (it destroys disease-causing fungi, viruses and bacteria) and gives a feeling of freshness.
- water heater - the heater is controlled by a separate button, which lights up to signal it is working. The 1500 W water heater is mainly used to maintain the correct water temperature. It can also be used to heat the water, but this is a slow process.
- automatic disinfection system - the system automatically doses the right amount of disinfectant liquid, activating the water pump and air blower in the process. While the disinfection system is active, the individual hydromassage devices run for 7 minutes at varying levels of intensity. After this time the hydromassage switches off automatically, and all that remains is to empty and rinse the bath.
- specially designed pipe system - so that all the water drains from the bath. In our systems, only trace amounts of water remain after the bath is emptied – perhaps a glass's worth across the whole bath, in the form of droplets held by "surface tension". In addition, in the Inspire-XL, Optima Relaks and Discovery Premium systems, because the water pump is positioned low down – meaning gravity alone cannot force the water to drain into the bath – we have fitted an additional water outlet from the system to the sewage system using a specialist bath siphon with double drainage.
- air system - all our systems are fitted with jets in the bottom of the bath. This is a built-in automatic drying system that switches on after the water has been drained from the bath. Our flagship Discovery Premium system additionally features the Extra Dry system, which further blows out the piping of the water system. Discovery Premium also has a built-in counter that shows on the display when the system needs disinfecting.
